Digital Preservation and Archiving Policy
Website Archiving and Server Backups
All electronic content of Essence & Critique: Journal of Literature and Drama Studies — including the journal website, published articles, and associated metadata — is preserved across multiple independent sources.
The primary version of the journal is hosted on the main web server and is publicly accessible to readers worldwide.
In addition, separate backup copies of the journal’s database and files are regularly stored on independent servers. In the event of a system failure or technical disruption, these backups allow the website and its content to be restored promptly, typically within 24–36 hours, ensuring continuous availability of the journal’s scholarly materials.
PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)
The journal participates in the PKP Preservation Network, a digital preservation service developed by the Public Knowledge Project.
Through this program, all published content is preserved in a distributed network of archival nodes that ensures long-term access to the journal’s articles and metadata.
PKP PN provides secure preservation and guarantees that the journal’s content will remain accessible even in the event that the journal website becomes unavailable or the journal ceases publication.
