Author Biography
Audrey T. Carroll is the author of What Blooms in the Dark (ELJ Editions, 2024), The Gaia Hypothesis (Alien Buddha Press, 2024), Parts of Speech: A Disabled Dictionary (Alien Buddha Press, 2023), In My Next Queer Life, I Want to Be (kith books 2023), and Queen of Pentacles (Choose the Sword Press, 2016), as well as the editor of the anthology Musing the Margins: Essays on Craft (Human/Kind Press, 2020). She is a queer, genderqueer/genderpunk, bi, and disabled/chronically ill writer who was born and raised in Queens, NYC.
Audrey received her BA in Creative Writing from Susquehanna University, her MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Central Arkansas, and her MA in English from the University of Rhode Island. Audrey is a PhD candidate in Illinois State University's English Studies program with a Creative Writing area of interest and a Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Graduate Certification.
Audrey's scholarly interests include Creative Writing Studies, Queer Studies, Bisexuality Studies, Disability Studies, inclusive pedagogy, and embodied pedagogy. She serves as a Diversity and Inclusion Editor for the Journal of Creative Writing Studies and as the Chair of the Creative Writing Studies Organization's Board of Directors. She is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of Genrepunk Magazine.
Audrey loves coffee, sitcoms, and ordering too many library books. Her favorite book is Of Bees and Mist by Erick Setiawan. Her other literary influences include James Baldwin, Lesley Nneka Arimah, Ada Limon, Carmen Maria Machado, Julie Otsuka, Madeline Miller, Mac Crane, Tea Gerbeza, Natalie Wee, Alix E. Harrow, Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha, and Kelly Weber.
